Impact isn't easy.

Whether you’re an academic, a climate champion, or a community builder… you do what you do because you care about making a difference. But working in emotionally-demanding settings comes with unique mental health challenges.

Impact-driven professionals are increasingly predisposed to anxiety, depression, burnout, and trauma. Institutional support can feel perfunctory and impersonal, and meditation apps can only do so much!

That’s where we come in. BeDo provides emotional learning opportunities and wellbeing support tailored to the needs of impact-driven professionals. By nurturing our capacity to care for ourselves and others, we can sustain the effort needed to tackle today’s biggest issues.

We share your values.

Curiosity: Our approach is reflexive, interdisciplinary and evidence-based. We are continuously informed by emerging research and the experiences of our community.

Inclusivity: We strive to provide equal access to culturally diverse resources for wellbeing. Our approach is rooted in decoloniality, anti-racism, equity and social justice.

Compassion: We are committed to serving others and choose to consciously turn towards the emotional experience of impact-driven work.

Community: We work better when we collaborate with others, and we recognize that human connection is essential to wellbeing.

Testimonials

“Daillen and Megan are excellent educators and facilitators. They not only provided a comprehensive overview of what auto-reflexivity entails and its importance in research, but also a safe and welcoming space for participants to share their experiences. The workshop was informative and interactive. I also took back some very useful tools and strategies that I could use and implement right away. I highly recommend their workshops for anyone who is willing to be compassionate and introspective in their research.”
Natasha, PhD Sociology, University of Maryland
"Burnout and chronic stress seem to be affecting a lot of us (maybe most of us!) in helping and caring professions. Using a helpful combination of research-based evidence, embodied practices and interactive exercises, this workshop helped our nonprofit cultivate awareness and reflect on practical tools to grow in self-compassion, complete the stress cycle and prevent burnout. I wholeheartedly recommend it!"
Natalia, Team Leader, Edinburgh City Mission
"I really enjoyed the Compassionate Interviewing for Qualitative Research seminar. As a researcher and an instructor, I gained insight into the psychological, social, and neurological factors that shape the ways that we interact with our participants. There were so many useful resources and great dialogue, highly recommended!"
Abigail, Assistant Professor, Public Health, Pennsylvania State University
"I would encourage anyone who hopes to conduct fieldwork research, or who intends to work in the NGO sector whether at home or overseas, whether now or in the future, to embrace this exciting opportunity to develop a more holistic approach to research and development work. You simply cannot hope to do good in the field if you cannot understand how to be well in the field."
Marianne, MSc African Studies, University of Edinburgh
